The laser system is an intense beam of light that is absorbed by the blood vessel, heating it to a point where it is destroyed. Following treatment the vessels quickly clear and are re-absorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
What types of veins can be treated?
Thread veins, rosacea, spider naevi and Campbell de Morgan red spots and skin tags.
How is the treatment performed?
You will be asked to wear goggles to protect the eyes. A light applicator is placed on the area and a short burst of light is released. This process is repeated over the area until it all has been treated. A cold pack is then applied and a soothing gel.
Am I suitable for treatment?
The fairer the skin the easier the treatment and tanned skins cannot be treated. The best response is often seen with small thread veins, spider naevi and rosacea.
What happens after the treatment?
Redness and a warm, glowing sensation is normal. The vessels should fade quickly and some disappear immediately. There will be some trauma to the skin which will take 1-2 weeks to disappear.
How long does each treatment take?
Treatments usually take 15-30 minutes, depending on the type and size of lesion.
How many treatments are required?
Usually 1-2 on each area treated, approximately 4 weeks apart.
